Was that funny?

Okay so, lemme start off with the good. You have some really solid animation, and style is good as well. Fluid and interesting. Sound is clear.

Saying that... I didn't laugh, chuckle, chortle or find any of this humorous. Maybe part of it was the atrocious voice acting. I mean, it isn't really that hard to sound angry, so it sounds ridiculous when you hear someone trying to sound angry in a medium voice. No yelling, no screaming, no fluctuations, obviously exagerated (in a bad way). Master Chief sounded awful. The jokes were random, not aqua teen funny random, but just plain bad random. Okay, so now they are blobs that kill each other, and come back to life, halarious. And the whole rant by the black character? I can't fathom how this got front page. Good animation though...

Man will I get flamed for this...

Awesome. I can't even begin believe how long it took you to model and integrate all that into flash. Every camera angle, every shot, it looked like it had a true purpose, a true directorial eye. I love the unique camera angles you cam up with, it add a great sense to the battle. Models looked great, music worked well, sound effects hit dead on. I can't really think of any thing bad to say. I was suprised at the ending though.

Unrelated: The reviewer before said if this were a video game he would "buy it and play it." Buy it AND play it... as opposed to what? Just buying it and not playing it?

You got the talent all right.

Well, you do a good job animating, that's for sure. What is lacking is the sounds. When someone jumps from 20 feet up in the air and lands on someone else I don't want to hear the sound of a 2 pound weight hitting the floor. All the punches sounded generic, when toads ribs broke, well... come on. Sound emphasizes the fact that an action took place, weak sound even takes away from animation, sometimes it is better to have no sound at all (as in this case were really weak punching and kicking sounds take away from the impact of the blows and make the flash seem amaturish). I also liked how you labled the secret lab "Secret Lab." If that was a joke, that was pretty damn funny. If you were just trying to convey to the viewers that that was a secret lab, there are more subtle ways of doing it... Also, this is the first of the series I watched, It would be nice if you atleast gave some info on how the timeline goes, I assume this is NO. 1 and than toads revenge NO 1 is NO 2 so on and so forth.

The secret lab was a joke thing.. Along with mario and luigi being behind a strange mountain.. Along with the turtle.. so on and so forth. I have a wierd sense of humor but some of you get it and it's great! As for sound effects I spend all my time animating and it sucks messing around trying to find sfx. I was nice enough to get a cd from a fan and those are the sfx that I use currently. Trust me, those are much better than what I had prior.

A Great Start

I really enjoyed the demo. The use of 3D environments and screen panning is a great idea, it really fits this puzzle style game. I look forward to the completion of it.

I think it would benefit from more challanging puzzles (perhaps you were planning this the further you went in the game?). Also, the zombie sequences need vast improvment, its almost less than a point and click since its only limited to the X-axis, you can't move the cursor up and down, making it really, really easy to take out the zombies. If the zombie attack had more urgency, perhaps a better aiming system (both X axis and Y axis) it would be more enjoyable.

Overall great job so far. Good luck with the continuing development of the game.

Getting there!

Keep up the work buddy. I see major problems already (as you probably already know). Of course the ridiculous amount of money you start with makes things kind of lame, since the game is ridiculously easy to start with. The game is very slow paced over all. Not enough zombies appear on the screen at once, even on the hard difficulty, even at the later levels. Work on getting the difficulty and intensity level up and it will be much nicer. Also, certain weapons should have different effects. For instance, the shotgun should have a spread, so if you don't hit exactly in the head, but around the head, it still counts as a head shot. Another one: if the game gets much harder, perhaps make the mp5 full auto? Finally, a colt .45 should do considerably more damage than a .9mm beretta.

Seawana responds:

The money thing is fixed. The game is slow paced for various reasons, mostly because the enemies are mostly classical zombies. On the final levels of the hard setting, you may have a new enemy appearing nearly every other frame. If that's not enough, you're out of luck. I wanted to, but didn't have time to implement a shotgun spread. And finally, regarding the colt .45 and .9mm beretta ... oh well. It's just a game after all.

Thanks for the review and ideas. I hope you play again.
